How To Run Multiple Instances Of Yahoo Messenger

It is possible to run multiple Yahoo Messenger simultaneously right after installing the official version of Yahoo Messenger.

You will need to apply a simple windows registry patch to enable this feature.

Follow these simple steps :

1. Open the notepad

2. Copy the following code

REGEDIT4 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\yahoo\pager\Test] "Plural"=dword:00000001

3. Save the above code as multi.reg

4. Either double click on this file or right click on it and select merge option. (aim is to merge this settings into windows registry)

Ya. after copying the code in a notepad save it as multi.reg and double click on the file to apply the patch..

After this you can start two instances of yahoo messenger one after another by two different id's.

Hi Ankit

Followed the steps as mentioned by you, but still could not get it running. Is there anything else that needs to be done? No where can I find the prompt saying to include another id? Any suggestions, would be very welcome and thanks.

Hi guys! Well the trick is an old one but it does work!

Just do what Ankit said and after running one Yahoo! Messenger window and signing into it, You have to Double click on the Yahoo! Messenger Icon on your desktop to open another windows, rest you can understand.

It's quite simple :)
Hope that helped!

Ok this is a joke article and it does not work.

November 27, 2007 at 7:33 AM

Btw, the registry patcher didn't work for me. I manually add the values my self. And it does work. You might have re-check that patcher thinggy.

hey! it doesn't work because the script is incomplete:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

this is what you should write in your notepad. then, if you follow the steps, it will work. bye!

when you open one messenger sign out, and then enter your 2nd id into it, dont log back in!!!!
next open another messenger and allow to log in, then log in the first messenger again with the changed id.
you cannot log in 2 messengers with only 1 username!!!

no its not a joke and yes it does work

for all of those who can't get this to work, this concept works ( good news) but this patch might not work for everyone. Here what you need to do ...
Step1: click on start, click run, type "regedit" and click ok( without quotes) idea is to open registry editor.

Step2: locate registry value ->HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Yahoo\pager. for those of you who are not sure how to get there, follow these...
after registry editor is open click on "+" sign in front of "HKEY_CURRENT_USER" and look for "Software" and click on "+" infront of software then locate "Yahoo" and click on "+" sign again, locate folder called "pager" and for last time click on "+" sign.

Step3: right click "pager" folder and then select "new" and then "key" this will create a new fold at the bottom, type in any name for this new folder ( in this registry patch as you can see its named "Test".

Step4: now right click on newly created folder and select "new" and then "DWORD Value" this will create a new white and blue file looking thing in right hand side veiw window of reistry editor, name it "Plural" (remember no quotes).

Step5: double click "Plural" to open it and in Value data field type in "1" ( number One) and make sure hexadecimal is selected.

Step6: Click "ok" close registry editor and have fun. YOU ARE DONE...
if followed properly should not take more than one min to do it.

I am trying to run multiple instances of the AOL software. Not AIM, but AOL. If anyone can email me a solution, I would pay to have this done.
