Run Multiple Instances Of Yahoo Messenger 8

Multiple instances of yahoo messenger 8 can be run by following these simple steps:

1. Download this patch and run "ym8multi.reg" after extracting the zip file.

2. That's it, now you can run as many instances of yahoo messenger 8 you want just by clicking yahoo messenger's shortcut.

This patch is tested and working on windows xp, it might not work in windows vista and don't use the remember password option in yahoo messenger otherwise you will login into the same account in different instances of yahoo messenger.

This was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks.

I'm using this with version 10 on Windows 7 & it works great. Also, a desktop or pinned taskbar shortcut works just as well as launching from the Start menu.

YIM latest build still does not support multiple instances.
It has serious issues with older builds..for instance if the other person is not running the same build messenger as you, half the features won't work because some how despite the later builds being identical, they are not compatible with each other.

And then we come to the multiple instances issue. The latest build does not support this as older versions either!

If your using your iphone as mic or webcam, and you get messages from other friends your completely screwed, because firing up the desktop version closes the iphone app.

Who ever was responsible for making this messenger, did so quickly and badly..i mean seriously no multiple instances natively? If msn can do it so can yahoo!
